LegitScript Certification: What It Means

MDside is LegitScript certified. The seal appears in our footer, and most people have no idea what sits behind it, so here is the plain version.

What certification actually involves

LegitScript reviews healthcare merchants against a published standard covering business legitimacy, licensing and registration, the qualifications of the clinicians involved, prescribing practices, and how the service is advertised. It is a paid, ongoing review rather than a badge you buy once, and certification can be withdrawn.

Why it matters commercially

Google and several other advertising platforms require LegitScript certification before a healthcare or pharmacy-adjacent advertiser can run ads in certain categories. The major payment processors use it as a risk signal. For a lot of operators in this market it is the difference between being able to advertise and not.

What it does not do

  • It is not a state license and does not replace one. Your state obligations are unchanged.
  • It is not a clinical endorsement of any particular treatment.
  • It does not certify your clients — certification attaches to the certified entity.
  • It is not permanent. Material changes to a website or service model are expected to be notified.

What we keep on the site because of it

Certification standards expect a healthcare merchant to be reachable and transparent, which is why every page on this site carries a business address, telephone number and email, and why the privacy policy, terms and returns and refunds policy stay published even though this is not a storefront. Those pages are not decoration.

Frequently asked questions

Does working with MDside make our business LegitScript certified?

No. Certification attaches to the certified entity. If you need it for your own advertising, you apply for it, and a defensible clinical structure makes that application considerably easier to pass.

Do we need LegitScript to advertise a med spa?

It depends on the platform and on what you are advertising. Prescription and pharmacy-adjacent categories are where it usually becomes mandatory.

How long does certification take?

It varies with how complete the application is. The delays we have seen are almost always missing licensing documentation or advertising copy that has to be revised first.
